Welcome to The Bradley Blast! A new addition that will be a regularly occurring post on The Reformed Outlook of items from around the internet that RO writer Jonathan Bradley finds interesting! There are two things to know: First, not everything will be of a Christian nature. Secondly, by regularly, I mean at least once a week.
So, here we go….
First, today marks the 16 year anniversary of the 9/11 attacks on New York, The Pentagon, and the crash of United Airlines flight 93 in Pennsylvania. I was asleep in my dorm room at the time and my mom called me and woke me up, telling me to turn on the television. I thought it was an accidental crash at first, that is until I watched the second tower get hit. Then I got worried. Where were you?
We’re The Only Plane In The Sky – Last year, Politico magazine put out a great article online, entitled, “We’re the Only Plane In The Sky,” telling the story from the major players points of view…as it unfolded for them aboard AirForce One alongside then President George W. Bush.
Binge-Watch Every Apple iPhone Announcement Right Here – Tomorrow, September 12th, the next round of Apple’s iPhones will be announced, with them being the iPhone X, the iPhone 8, and the iPhone 8 Plus. Wired has put together an article with a compilation of all the iPhone announcements since 2007, when the iPhone first came on the scene.
What to do when someone says something theologically stupid on Twitter – This is a short but great read for those of us who start to twitch when we read something on Twitter (or Facebook, or some other social media platform) that is just ridiculously wrong and/or downright heretical. Reading this and following it’s advice will probably lower your stress level and blood pressure.
How To Grieve Like A Christian – Tim Challies has penned a wonderful article on grieving as a Christian. “While our loved ones have left us, they have not ceased to be. They’ve simply gone on ahead. Because Jesus rose again, they will rise again.” This is a great and encouraging read, especially for those of us who are or who have been grieving.
Digital Kidnapping – Yes, this is exactly what you think it is..and it’s also not. My wife clicked on a Facebook link to this episode of Dr. Phil (no, I am not a fan), however what happened here caught me hook, line, and sinker. It’s sick and disturbing, but also a poignant look at why it might be good to NOT post every picture of your children and family online.
Missions and the Local Church – Too often, Christians put such a focus on going overseas and reaching the lost and winning people for Christ. What they fail to realize, however, is missions is all about worship and the local church. The Gospel Coalition’s article “Two Ways Missions Should Focus on the Local Church” is a wonderful article that points both towards overseas missions as well as local fellowship.
Thank you for coming!
